Sempra - Increased focus on 'critical roles' - what does it mean?

Hey everyone, has anyone else noticed a recent uptick in discussions around 'critical roles' and 'essential functions' within Sempra? It feels like management is really emphasizing identifying and defining these positions. Normally, I wouldn't think much of it, but given the general economic climate and some of the other subtle signs I've been seeing (like the reallocation of resources mentioned in other threads), it's starting to feel a bit more pointed. Are they doing this to ensure business continuity, or is it a precursor to something else? I'm trying to stay calm and not jump to conclusions, but it's hard when these terms start popping up in team meetings and internal emails more frequently. Anyone else seeing this or have insights into what this might signify?

It could mean a few things, honestly. On one hand, it's good business practice to know who does what and why it's absolutely vital, especially if they're trying to streamline operations or prepare for potential disruptions. It might just be a proactive measure to ensure key functions remain operational regardless of external pressures. Could also be a precursor to restructuring, though.

I've been thinking about this too. 'Critical roles' sounds like they're evaluating which positions are absolutely non-negotiable for the company's survival and daily operations. If they're reallocating resources, this definition likely dictates where those resources are prioritized. It’s a bit unsettling, but smart from a risk management perspective if done right.
