Sempra - Management talk about 'strategic realignment'

Hey everyone, has anyone else been hearing a lot of corporate speak lately about 'strategic realignment' and 'optimizing our portfolio' at Sempra? It feels like code for something. I've noticed a lot of higher-ups being very cagey when asked direct questions about future plans or headcount. My team lead just shrugs and says 'business as usual,' but the vibe is definitely off. Performance reviews felt a bit more critical this cycle than usual too, with more emphasis on 'essential functions.' Just trying to get a sense if I'm overthinking this or if others are picking up on the same undercurrents. Feels like we're in a holding pattern, and not a comfortable one.

I've picked up on that too. The "strategic realignment" buzzwords are everywhere, and it definitely feels like more than just a refresh. My department's been asked to document "core competencies" in a way that feels preparatory for... something. Performance review comments also seemed to be leaning towards a stricter definition of "essential," which is making people nervous. Hoping it's just standard business restructuring, but the ambiguity is unsettling.

Yeah, "optimizing our portfolio" sounds a lot like they're looking at what's profitable and what's not, and potentially shedding parts that aren't hitting targets. The "essential functions" part really stuck out to me in my review too. It's creating a lot of quiet anxiety around here, even if day-to-day work hasn't changed yet. Wondering if anyone has heard anything more concrete about divestitures or restructuring.
