Sempra - Performance reviews feeling extra brutal this year

Just finished my annual review and wow, it was intense. Normally it's pretty straightforward, but this time around, my manager kept bringing up 'areas for development' that felt like thinly veiled criticisms. They emphasized 'efficiency' and 'productivity' a lot. It made me wonder if this is a company-wide thing. Are they setting people up for cuts down the line? Or is this just a new performance management push? It's making me nervous, especially with the general economic uncertainty. Anyone else have a similar experience or heard anything about performance metrics being tightened up?
