Anyone else noticing budget tightening across the board?

Been at Sherwin-Williams for a few years now, and I've definitely noticed a shift in the last couple of quarters. Travel budgets seem tighter, fewer new projects getting approved, and a general sense of 'doing more with less' is palpable. It's not just my team; I'm hearing similar stories from colleagues in other divisions. We haven't had any official layoff announcements, and my direct manager hasn't said anything alarming, but this feels like a precursor to something. Is anyone else seeing this? Wondering if this is a company-wide strategy to improve margins or if there's something else brewing under the surface. Trying to stay optimistic, but the air definitely feels different. Just looking for some solidarity or any similar observations out there.

Yeah, I've been with SW for a while too and the vibe has definitely changed. Projects that would have been a 'go' a year or two ago are getting a lot more scrutiny now. It feels like the purse strings are being held a lot tighter across the board. Hopefully, it's just a temporary dip and not a sign of bigger issues down the road.

From my perspective in R&D, it's the same story. We're seeing a slowdown in new product development initiatives getting greenlit, and even smaller operational expenses are being questioned more thoroughly. It's a bit unsettling, to be honest, given the company's usual momentum. Curious to see how long this trend lasts.
