Hi all, With the current market and all the talk around the industry, I'm thinking about my next steps. I've been with SW for a few years and have learned a ton, but I'm starting to feel a bit pigeonholed in my current role. The thought of a layoff is always in the back of my mind, but honestly, I'm more focused on proactive career development. I've been exploring internal opportunities, but it feels like a bit of a lottery system sometimes. Has anyone successfully made a significant jump within SW recently? What was your strategy? Did you leverage your network, take on stretch assignments, or pursue external certifications that made you more attractive internally? I'm trying to understand the best ways to position myself for growth, whether that's moving into a different function, taking on more leadership responsibility, or even just finding a role that offers a new challenge. Any advice on how to navigate internal mobility effectively, especially in times of economic uncertainty, would be super helpful. Trying to build a sustainable career here, not just ride out the next wave.

It's smart to be thinking proactively about your career path, especially with the current economic climate. Sherwin-Williams has a lot of different departments and roles, so it's definitely possible to find new challenges. Have you considered reaching out to people in departments you find interesting, even if there aren't open positions listed? Sometimes a casual coffee chat can open doors or give you insights into roles you didn't even know existed. Networking internally is key!
