Sherwin-Williams: Anyone else noticing a hiring freeze or slowdown?

Hey folks, been with SW for a few years in the R&D side. Lately, things have felt...weird. We've had a couple of open roles that have been posted for months with zero movement. No official word on hiring freezes, but it sure feels like it. My manager is cagey when asked, just saying 'budget reviews' and 'market conditions.' Has anyone else experienced this across different departments? Are applications getting auto-rejected or just sitting in limbo? It's making it hard to plan for the future, and honestly, a little unsettling given the general economic climate. Wondering if this is just my area or a company-wide thing. Curious to hear what others are seeing.

I've been keeping an eye on job postings from SW for a while now, and I've definitely noticed fewer openings and a lot of the same positions lingering for months. It's a bit concerning, especially when you're looking for a change or a step up. I've even had a few applications just disappear into the ether with no update, which is frustrating. I wonder if it's across the board or just certain divisions. Hopefully, it's just a temporary lull and not a sign of bigger issues.

Interesting to hear you say that. I'm on the sales side and while we haven't had explicit hiring freezes, there's been a noticeable tightening of the purse strings. We're being pushed harder to make existing resources work and there's less appetite for new initiatives that require significant investment. So, while I can't speak directly to R&D, the general vibe does feel a bit more cautious financially. It makes sense that this would trickle down to hiring.
