Sherwin-Williams: Quiet before the storm?

Hey everyone, posting anonymously because, well, you know. Been with SW for a few years now, and lately, the vibe feels... off. There's been no official word, no big announcements about layoffs, but you can just *feel* it in the air. Budgets seem tighter, projects are getting scrutinized more, and there's a general sense of 'what's next?' among colleagues. Lots of hushed conversations in break rooms and on Teams calls. I've seen some hiring freezes in certain departments too, which is usually a precursor. Just wondering if anyone else is picking up on these subtle signs? Are there any departments that seem particularly vulnerable? Trying to stay focused on my work, but it's hard not to be a little anxious when things feel so uncertain. Anyone have any insights or heard any whispers, even if unofficial?

I've been hearing similar whispers from folks in other retail paint chains. It seems like the whole industry is bracing for something, whether it's a slowdown or a shift in how people buy paint. Maybe it's just the natural economic cycle, but it's definitely making people nervous when even basic expenses feel like a major hurdle. Hope it's just a bump in the road.

Could this be related to the rise of DIY alternatives or big box stores really pushing their own paint brands? I've noticed a lot more competition lately, and it wouldn't be surprising if a company like Sherwin-Williams had to tighten things up to stay competitive. It's tough out there for sure, and feeling that uncertainty is understandable.
