Anyone else feeling the 'no more layoffs' promise is wearing thin?

Look, I know Harley and Tobi went on record saying we’re done with the headcount reductions, but the vibe in Slack is just off lately. It feels like we’re being managed by attrition now. Every time someone leaves, the role just vanishes into thin air or gets shuffled to a contractor team offshore. It’s not a 'layoff' if you just let the headcount dwindle, right? I’ve seen three senior ICs in my org bounce in the last month alone, and their work is just being dumped on the juniors without any pay adjustment. Leadership keeps talking about 'operational discipline' and 'focus,' but it’s becoming clear that we’re just running a skeleton crew for the sake of the quarterly margins. Has anyone heard anything concrete about Q3 or Q4 plans? I’m seeing way too many 'leaving for a new adventure' posts on LinkedIn from people who definitely didn't want to leave six months ago. Just trying to figure out if I should start prepping my resume now or if I’m just being paranoid because of the industry noise.

The 'stealth layoff' strategy is honestly worse than a formal announcement. When the company stops backfilling roles, the remaining team members inevitably burn out from picking up the slack. It creates a toxic cycle where the top performers leave because they’re doing the work of three people, which only makes the remaining workload even heavier for the juniors left behind. Leadership knows exactly what they are doing by squeezing the headcount this way, and it’s clearly killing the internal culture.

I think everyone is feeling the pressure right now. It is frustrating to watch roles vanish and work get offshored while the higher-ups keep talking about efficiency. We’ve all seen the pattern: people jump ship, the tasks get dumped onto whoever is still sitting in their seat, and the promise of stability starts to feel like a bad joke. At this point, I’m just keeping my resume updated and watching the Slack channels for more signs of attrition. It’s hard to trust the narrative when the reality on the ground is so obvious.
