Totally get where you're coming from. Been through similar situations at previous companies. The 'efficiency' buzzword is almost always a red flag, unfortunately. If you genuinely like your job, start documenting all your achievements and contributions. Quantify everything you can. Having solid data points makes a huge difference if tough decisions are being made. Good luck!
Honestly, all big companies go through cycles like this. Shopify grew massively during the pandemic, and now they're probably just trying to right-size things. Don't automatically assume the worst. Q3 reviews are always a bit nerve-wracking. Maybe use this as an opportunity to proactively reach out to your manager, ask for feedback, and highlight your value to the team. Sometimes just showing initiative helps.
