Feeling the squeeze - anyone else notice changes in hiring/budgets?

Hey everyone, just wanted to see if anyone else is feeling the pressure lately. Beyond the usual talk about efficiency, I've noticed a significant slowdown in hiring for new roles. Even for essential positions, the approval process seems to be taking way longer, and there's a lot more scrutiny on budgets across the board. My manager has been pretty cagey when I've asked directly, just saying we need to be 'mindful of resources.' It's making me a bit nervous, especially with all the broader tech layoffs happening. This feels different from just standard belt-tightening. Anyone else seeing this? Are teams being asked to do more with less? Any insight into whether this is a company-wide push or just isolated incidents would be helpful.

Yeah, I've definitely seen that too. It feels like the company is tightening its belt a bit more than usual. Hiring freezes or delays seem to be the norm for many departments, and even smaller projects are getting a much closer look before getting the green light. It's understandable given the economic climate, but it does create a sense of uncertainty about growth and future initiatives. Hopefully, it's a temporary phase.

Totally feel you. It's not just you; the vibe here has shifted. Budgets are definitely under a microscope, and the hiring freeze, or at least extreme slowdown, is palpable.
