Heard from a friend in recruiting, potential hiring freeze coming

Take this with a HUGE grain of salt, but I have a friend in talent acquisition who mentioned they're anticipating a possible hiring freeze across some departments soon. They weren't able to give me specifics, but the implication was that it's related to internal performance reviews and some restructuring discussions happening at the VP level. This is all second-hand info, so I can't vouch for its accuracy, but I figured it's worth sharing. My friend said if you are interviewing, to try and expedite the process.

Thanks for sharing! Even if it's just a rumor, it's good to be aware. I've been through a hiring freeze before and it's always better to be prepared. For anyone interviewing, definitely try to speed things up, like your friend suggested. Also, focus on networking internally if you can, even just informational interviews. Those connections can make a huge difference if things get tight.

Honestly, I wouldn't put too much stock in this. These kinds of rumors are always floating around, especially after performance review cycles. Until there's an official announcement, I'd just focus on doing your job well. Plus, Shopify is a huge company - even if *some* departments freeze, it doesn't mean it's across the board. Easier said than done, but try not to let it stress you out.
