Is anyone else feeling super anxious about layoffs right now?

I've been at Shopify for almost 4 years, and this is the most uneasy I've felt. I'm on the merchant success team, and the general vibe is just...off. We've had a couple of big projects quietly put on hold, and my manager has been unusually vague in our 1:1s. I know the economy is still shaky, and e-commerce growth has slowed. Anyone else seeing signs within their teams? Or am I just being paranoid? I really like it here and the thought of starting over somewhere new is really stressful. I've already started updating my resume just in case. Ugh.

Totally get where you're coming from. I'm in engineering, and we've seen a hiring freeze extended for the third time. It definitely makes you wonder. The 'quiet' project cancellations are a classic sign, unfortunately. Maybe start dusting off your resume, just in case? It's better to be prepared than caught off guard. Don't panic, but be proactive.

Honestly, it's probably just the broader economic climate getting to you. Shopify went through a big correction last year; it's unlikely they'd do another one so soon. Merchant success is pretty vital, so I wouldn't worry too much. Maybe try talking to some trusted colleagues to gauge if it's a shared feeling or just your own anxiety amplifying things.
