Seriously considering leaving before the axe falls...

I'm so over this. Three years I've poured into this company, and for what? Constant anxiety about whether I'm going to be next on the chopping block. The writing is on the wall – projects are being cancelled, budgets are slashed, and everyone's walking on eggshells. I'm in engineering, and even we're not safe. I'm actively interviewing, and honestly, I'd rather take a pay cut and work somewhere less stressful than wait around to get blindsided with a severance package. Anyone else feeling this way? Is it better to jump ship now?

Totally get where you're coming from. I was at a similar company a few years back. The constant uncertainty is draining. Start documenting EVERYTHING you've worked on, and your contributions. Makes updating your resume and answering interview questions way easier. Look after yourself, mentally and physically. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Good luck with the job hunt!

I'm hearing similar rumblings in my department. While it's prudent to explore other options, remember that things aren't always as dire as they seem. Sometimes management overreacts. Jumping ship might not be the best long-term strategy if the market takes another downturn. Weigh your options carefully before making a decision based on fear.
