Hey everyone, saw the news about the latest layoffs at Snap. Seems like another significant chunk of the workforce is gone. It's always tough to see this happen, especially when it's your company or people you know. I'm trying to understand the broader context here. Are these layoffs purely performance-driven, or is there a strategic shift happening? Some articles are mentioning a big push into new technologies, which often comes with restructuring. Curious if anyone here was directly affected or has insights into what's driving these decisions. How are teams feeling post-layoff? Are there specific departments hit harder than others? Any info on severance or outplacement support would be helpful too, though I know that's sensitive. Just trying to make sense of it all from an employee perspective.

It's really disheartening to hear about more layoffs. While I don't have insider info, it does seem like a pattern with many tech companies right now. The focus on pivoting towards new tech often means shedding roles that don't align with those future goals, even if the people themselves were doing good work. It's a harsh reality of the industry that adaptability is key, and sometimes that adaptation involves difficult personnel changes. Hope those affected land on their feet soon.
