Navigating the post-layoff environment - how are you all coping?

Okay, so the layoffs hit my department hard last week. Lost a bunch of people I worked closely with for years. It's been a weird mix of relief that I wasn't directly impacted, but also this overwhelming survivor's guilt. Plus, the workload has instantly doubled. My manager is trying their best to redistribute tasks, but it's just not sustainable. How are others who went through this handling the increased pressure and the emotional toll? Are people actively looking, or trying to ride it out? Just looking for some solidarity or advice from people in the trenches.

Ugh, I'm so sorry you're going through this. Survivor's guilt is a brutal thing, and it's completely valid to feel that way. Try to be kind to yourself. And yeah, that immediate workload increase is insane. Focus on what you absolutely *have* to get done and communicate clearly with your manager about what's realistic. Maybe look into some stress management techniques? Hang in there.

It's tough, for sure. I've been through something similar. My advice? Document everything. Every extra task, every late night, every time you're asked to do something outside your original scope. If things don't improve, having that record is crucial. As for looking elsewhere, I started casually browsing job boards right away. It gave me a sense of control, even if I didn't plan to jump immediately. Good luck.
