Anyone else getting weird vibes from leadership lately?

Is it just me, or has the atmosphere at the office felt particularly heavy this week? I’ve been here for a couple of years, and the mood shift is palpable. We’ve seen the news about the broader market struggles and the constant pressure on the vision fund portfolio, but the silence from the top is starting to feel ominous. I noticed a few senior managers spending a lot of time in back-to-back closed-door meetings, and several recurring meetings for the wider team have been pushed indefinitely. I’m not saying there’s an official RIF announcement, but usually, when the calendar starts clearing up like this, it’s not for a good reason. Has anyone heard anything through the grapevine? I’m trying to decide if it’s time to start polishing the resume and reaching out to my network, or if I’m just being paranoid because of the general tech winter. It’s impossible to get a straight answer from anyone in management right now. They just keep repeating that we need to remain 'agile' and 'focused on core deliverables,' which is basically corporate speak for 'don't ask questions.' Would love to hear if anyone in other departments is seeing similar patterns or if I’m just reading too much into a slow month.

It is definitely not just you. I have been tracking the Vision Fund movements for a while, and the lack of transparency is standard procedure when things are moving toward a major restructuring. Those closed-door meetings are a classic indicator that they are either preparing for another round of heavy write-downs or looking at significant headcount reductions. When the silence gets this thick, it usually means the leadership is scrambling behind the scenes to contain the fallout. My advice is to update your resume now before the official announcements hit the internal portal.

Honestly, I think everyone is reading way too much into the office energy. SoftBank has always been a high-pressure environment, and the current market volatility is naturally going to tighten the mood. Leadership isn't 'ominous,' they are just dealing with massive capital allocation issues that come with the territory of global tech investing. People get nervous whenever calendars start shifting, but that is just how executive cycles work. Just focus on your deliverables and try to tune out the hallway gossip; panicking only makes the office environment feel ten times worse than it actually is.
