Yeah, I've been hearing whispers about that too. It's definitely not just you. We had a few senior roles we were trying to fill for Q3 that got put on indefinite hold, and the official line was just 'budget reallocation.' It's unnerving, for sure. Makes you wonder about the stability of things. I'm hoping it's just a temporary market correction and not a precursor to layoffs or a major strategic shift, but it's hard not to worry when the hiring tap suddenly gets turned down like this.
Interesting you mention that. I'm in a different department, but we haven't seen any slowdown. In fact, we just onboarded three new folks last month. It's possible it's department-specific or maybe a factor of what skills are in demand. Backend engineering can be pretty specialized. Could be that the specific roles that vanished weren't considered critical for Q4 goals, or there's internal reshuffling happening. Definitely worth asking your manager for more clarity if possible, even if they're being cagey.
