Is Splunk about to pull a fast one on us?

I've been hearing rumblings, and seeing some weird stuff lately. Anyone else feel like something's brewing? I'm on the sales side, been here for 5 years. We've missed our quota the last two quarters, which I know isn't great, but the way my manager is acting is...off. Super cagey, avoids direct questions, and keeps saying 'we need to be lean and efficient'. I swear I overheard him on a call with HR mentioning 'resource optimization' and 'restructuring'. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I have a bad feeling. Anyone else getting similar vibes, or am I alone in this pre-layoff anxiety spiral? My wife is pregnant and I can't afford to lose my job. I need to be on top of this now if it's coming...

Sounds like you're picking up on some real anxieties. "Resource optimization" is often code for layoffs. Start polishing your resume and networking now. It's always better to be proactive in these situations. Don't panic, but definitely prepare for the worst. Good luck!

I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. Every company goes through phases of cost-cutting. "Lean and efficient" could just mean tightening the belt on expenses. Maybe sales have been down across the board? Have you looked at industry trends? It could be a wider market issue, not necessarily Splunk-specific trouble.
