I hate this constant fear! Every time there's a slight dip in the market, or some VP starts talking about 'efficiency', my stomach drops. I've been here almost 2 years, in engineering, and I'm constantly watching my back. It's exhausting! I just want to come to work, do my job, and not worry about being randomly shown the door. I get that it's a business, but the lack of transparency and the constant uncertainty is demoralizing. Anyone else feel like they're walking on eggshells all the time?

Totally get where you're coming from. I've been in tech for over a decade and that feeling never really goes away, unfortunately. The 'efficiency' talk is ALWAYS a red flag. Best advice? Keep your skills sharp, network internally and externally, and always be interviewing, even if you like your job. It's your best form of security. Knowledge of your market value is empowering, and a good offer is like a get-out-of-jail-free card if things go south.

Two years? Buckle up, buttercup. That's the industry. Unless you're a critical player or have some serious political capital, you're always at risk. Honestly, all this hand-wringing is a waste of energy. Focus on delivering value, document EVERYTHING you do, and maybe consider a role in a more stable sector. Or, you know, win the lottery. But seriously, 'transparency' and 'corporate loyalty' are fairy tales.
