Is the SODO office atmosphere dead yet?

It’s been a ghost town since the news dropped on Wednesday. I walked through the lobby this morning and you could genuinely cut the tension with a knife. For those of us who weren't in the 350-person wave, what’s the vibe in your department? My manager had a 'check-in' meeting scheduled for 4 PM today, which is basically code for 'your role might be next.' I’m just trying to figure out if it’s worth updating my portfolio tonight or if I should just wait for the calendar invite. The silence from leadership is deafening, as usual. We keep hearing about 'operational efficiency' and 'realigning priorities,' but nobody is actually explaining how we’re supposed to keep the stores running with fewer bodies at the support center. Anyone else just sitting on their hands waiting for the next round, or am I being too cynical?

Honestly, the vibe is beyond depressing. My manager tried to act like it was business as usual, but you could tell they were just reading off a script. Half the desks in my pod are empty and nobody is even pretending to get any actual work done. If I were you, I’d update that portfolio tonight. Better to be prepared and have it ready than to be staring at a blank calendar when the invite inevitably drops. Good luck, you’re definitely not alone in feeling this way.

I don’t blame you for being stressed, but maybe take a deep breath before you pull the trigger on the job search. Every time there’s a shuffle, the office feels like a funeral home for a week. The tension is real, but the panic usually settles down once the dust clears and people realize they’re safe for the time being. Don't stress yourself out too much before the meeting actually happens. Just wait for the 4 PM update and go from there. It’s an exhausting environment, but try to keep your head up.
