I’ve been tracking this from the outside, and it really feels like the brand has completely lost its way. When you prioritize shareholders over the people actually keeping the doors open, this is the inevitable result. It’s no longer about the customer experience or the quality of the product; it’s just a shell game at this point. I stopped going months ago because you can feel the tension in the shops. It’s sad to see a company that once defined a third-place culture turn into a corporate entity that drains its employees dry just to satisfy quarterly earnings reports.
Hang in there. I hit the five-year mark a while back and saw the same cycle before I finally jumped ship. That constant anxiety about meeting invites is a clear sign that the culture is toxic. Leadership has completely disconnected from reality, and unfortunately, they won't change until the bottom line takes a massive hit. Don't let them kill your spirit. Take those skills you've built and look elsewhere, because there are plenty of companies that value longevity rather than just seeing you as a line item to be cut whenever the numbers look shaky.
