Budget cuts hitting GSO / IT support?

Seems like the belt-tightening has moved beyond just the front office. My team has been told that all discretionary spend is frozen until further notice, and even basic software renewals are being blocked. When they start nickeling and diming on dev tools, it’s usually the first sign that headcount reductions are looming on the horizon. I’m seeing way more ‘process efficiency’ meetings on the calendar, which is usually corporate-speak for ‘how many of you can we automate or move offshore before year-end?’ I’ve been here long enough to know the cycle. If you're currently in a role that feels redundant or heavy on manual maintenance, start documenting your wins now. I don't see an official announcement coming until after the quarterly results drop, but the writing is definitely on the wall. Stay safe out there.

I’m in a similar boat over in the support side. The vibe in the office has definitely shifted; there’s a lot of nervous energy during those mandatory town halls. When they start scrubbing the small operational expenses like minor software seats and team training, you know the budget isn't just tight—it’s locked down. I've been polishing my resume because those 'efficiency' initiatives never end well for the people actually doing the work. If you're seeing the same signs, it’s probably time to start looking elsewhere before the inevitable restructuring hits the floor.

Honestly, it’s been the same story for months now. Every quarterly update is just another round of promises about growth while they quietly strip away the resources we actually need to function. It’s frustrating watching them preach about innovation while simultaneously killing the dev tools that allow us to build anything. I’ve stopped worrying about the 'why' and started focusing on the 'when.' If you aren't already keeping an eye on the internal job board or external listings, you're behind the curve. It’s clear they are prepping for a lean year and we are the ones paying the price.
