State Street - Anyone else feel the pressure building?

Hey everyone, Been at State Street for a few years now, and lately, the vibe has been... tense. Not sure if it's just my department or a broader thing, but there's a definite air of uncertainty. Budgets feel tighter, hiring freezes seem to be in effect for most roles, and there's a lot of talk about 'efficiency' and 'optimization' in internal comms. I haven't heard any concrete news about layoffs, and my manager is pretty tight-lipped, but the whispers are starting to get louder. People are definitely looking over their shoulders. Anyone else picking up on this? Is it just the general market sentiment hitting us, or is there something specific going on at State Street that I'm missing? Curious to hear if others are feeling this shift or if it's just my paranoia setting in. What are your thoughts on the current climate?

Yeah, I've been feeling it too. The 'optimization' talk is definitely a code word for something, and the hiring freeze across so many teams is a huge red flag. It's creating a lot of anxiety, and honestly, it's hard to stay motivated when you don't know what the future holds. Trying to focus on my work, but the underlying stress is palpable.

I can confirm the pressure. It's not just you. The internal comms about efficiency are constant, and while management insists everything is fine, the lack of clarity and the whispers about restructuring are making it difficult to concentrate. Hope it doesn't lead to anything too drastic, but the signs aren't great.
