State Street - Performance management feels like a setup?

Okay, this is more of a rant but also a genuine question for anyone else experiencing this at State Street. Lately, it feels like the performance management system is being weaponized. Goals seem intentionally set to be difficult, if not impossible, to achieve, and then feedback sessions feel like they're just ticking boxes to document 'performance issues'. It's creating a really toxic environment where people are afraid to take risks or even ask clarifying questions because it might be used against them later. I've seen good people pushed out or put on 'improvement plans' that feel more like termination prep. Anyone else feeling like they're walking on eggshells or that the system is being used unfairly?

I hear you. The goal-setting process has definitely felt like a moving target lately. It's demoralizing when you pour effort into achieving objectives only to feel like they're being retroactively shifted or deemed insufficient. The emphasis on documentation over constructive development is palpable, and it's definitely impacting morale and fostering a climate of apprehension rather than innovation. It's a shame because there are many talented people here who want to contribute, but this approach stifles that potential.
