It's not just you. The 'Stryker way' used to mean something tangible, but it’s increasingly being used as a shield for questionable executive decisions. When leadership pivots from celebrating human talent to strictly obsessing over headcount optics, that culture dies fast. You’re definitely not alone in feeling like just another line item on a quarterly forecast. It’s a shame to see the focus shift entirely away from the people actually building the tech.
I honestly think the ship sailed a long time ago. Every large medical company eventually hits this stage where the spreadsheets become more important than the staff, and Stryker is no exception. It’s frustrating when the mission statement doesn’t match the reality of the office environment, but don't take it personally. Most of us are just grinding through the noise until the next organizational change comes along. Keep your head down and look out for your own interests.
