Stryker - Q2 Performance & Workforce Buzz?

Hey everyone, seeing a lot of chatter about the general market and how it's impacting med device companies. While Stryker hasn't had any official announcements, I'm curious if anyone else is picking up on subtle shifts internally. Are there fewer new projects starting up? Has hiring slowed down significantly, or are certain departments just eerily quiet? I've been here a couple of years and usually, there's a pretty constant hum of activity and growth. Lately, though, it feels a bit more... reserved. Maybe it's just me overthinking things, but the economic climate is hard to ignore. Just want to gauge the general sentiment. Anyone else noticing anything that makes them feel a bit uneasy, even without concrete news?

Yeah, I've noticed it too. Things definitely feel a bit more measured than usual. Less of that 'all hands on deck for every new initiative' vibe. Hiring has seemed slower, especially for non-critical roles, and some teams are definitely consolidating resources rather than expanding. It's not a panic, but a noticeable shift towards efficiency and perhaps a bit more caution. Wondering if it's a broader industry trend or specific to how leadership is viewing the current economic climate.

I'm in R&D, and while we're not seeing massive cuts, there's definitely more scrutiny on project scope and timelines. Fewer 'moonshot' type ideas getting approved and more focus on iterating on existing successful platforms. The hiring freeze on certain support functions has had a ripple effect, making some processes take longer. It's probably a smart move to be prudent, but it does change the day-to-day energy a bit.
