What are typical severance packages at Stryker if things go south?

Okay, so there haven't been any *confirmed* layoffs here at Stryker, at least not that I've seen or heard officially. But with the general economic climate and some of the whispers I've picked up, it's hard not to think about worst-case scenarios. I've been with the company for 7 years, in a senior marketing role. If, hypothetically, there were layoffs, what kind of severance packages does Stryker usually offer? Is it typically based on tenure, or is it a standard offer? Any insight from people who might have been through something similar at Stryker, or even at other med device companies of similar size, would be really helpful. Just trying to be prepared, you know?

Hey, I've been through a layoff elsewhere in med device a few years back, though not at Stryker. What you're smart to consider is that severance is almost always tied to tenure, so your 7 years is definitely a plus. Usually, it's a base number of weeks or months (like 1-2 weeks per year of service), plus maybe some extra for senior roles. Also, look into continuation of benefits – that can be worth more than cash sometimes. Hopefully, it's just rumors, but good to be prepared.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much yet. Stryker's been pretty solid, and most of what you hear is just general market anxiety bleeding into company-specific fears. Companies are usually pretty tight-lipped about severance specifics until it's actually happening. If you're really concerned, maybe have a discreet chat with HR about company policy in general terms, or start updating your resume just in case. Better safe than sorry, right?
