It is the same old story. Leadership loves to preach about being 'lean' while sitting in their high-rise offices, completely detached from the reality of the burnout happening in the trenches. They ignore the fact that the work isn't getting done because they’ve cut the staff to the bone. You’re not alone in that frustration; everyone feels like they’re running a marathon with weights on their ankles. It is just corporate speak designed to justify why they aren't backfilling roles while demanding we do the work of three people for the same salary. Don't burn yourself out for them, it's not worth it.
I stopped listening to the town halls a long time ago. At Synchrony, the gap between the vision presented on those slides and the actual daily workload is honestly laughable. They keep moving the goalposts and calling it 'efficiency' instead of admitting they overextended. If you look at the internal job boards, it is all a smokescreen to look like they are growing, but we all know the reality of the hiring freeze. Just do what you can, log off on time, and keep your resume updated. This company doesn't reward over-performance anymore, so stop killing yourself to hit those impossible numbers.
