Synchrony - Any updates on recent performance reviews?

Hi everyone, just finished my annual performance review at Synchrony and wanted to see if others have had similar experiences. Mine felt a bit more critical than usual, even though my performance metrics were solid. A lot of focus on 'areas for development' that weren't really discussed before. It's making me wonder if there's a broader push to trim the bottom performers, or if it's just a new performance management approach. Curious to hear what others heard during their reviews, especially if you're in [Another Department/Role]. Trying to gauge if this is a normal cycle or something more significant happening behind the scenes. Feeling a bit uneasy about the feedback.

Yeah, I had my review last week and it felt pretty similar. Lots of emphasis on 'growth opportunities' that seemed to come out of nowhere. My manager was pleasant enough, but the overall tone was definitely more stringent than in past years. Definitely feeling that 'development areas' discussion more heavily this time around, even with strong output. Curious to see if this is a company-wide thing or specific to our department.

Interesting. Mine was actually pretty positive this year, though I did notice a slight shift in how feedback was delivered. More constructive criticism, perhaps? My manager framed it as aligning everyone with new strategic goals, which might explain the 'areas for development' focus you mentioned. It felt less like a critique and more like a roadmap, but I can see how it could be interpreted differently depending on the context. Maybe it's just a new process rolling out.
