Synchrony - Anybody else seeing a hiring freeze and whispers of restructuring?

Hey everyone, wanted to see if anyone else at Synchrony is picking up on some concerning signals lately. Been hearing a lot more chatter about a potential hiring freeze across several departments, and some teams are definitely looking leaner than they have in the past. My manager has been pretty tight-lipped, but the vibe is definitely one of 'expect changes' rather than 'business as usual'. I've been here for a few years and things have always felt relatively stable, but the last couple of months have felt different. Reduced headcount in some areas, a slowdown in new projects starting, and a general sense of uneasiness in the hallways. Is this just me or is anyone else experiencing this? Curious to hear what others are hearing, officially or unofficially. Trying to get a sense of the broader picture here before I start worrying too much.

I've been hearing similar rumblings. It's tough when the official word is vague, but you can feel the shift. Morale can take a hit when there's uncertainty about the future, especially regarding job security and growth. Hopefully, whatever changes are coming are communicated clearly and with transparency soon.

Interesting you bring this up. While I haven't heard explicit mentions of a freeze, I've definitely noticed a slowdown in the pace of hiring for open roles. Some positions that seemed urgent a few months ago are still listed. It makes you wonder if there's a strategic shift happening behind the scenes. Fingers crossed it's just a temporary adjustment.
