Synchrony - Performance review season drama?

So, perf review season is upon us at Synchrony, and man, it feels like the stakes are higher this year. Normally, it's just the usual process, but this time around, there's a lot more focus on 'impact' and 'efficiency'. Heard some whispers from managers about 'difficult conversations' that might be happening based on these reviews. Not directly layoff talk, but it feels like a precursor. Are they just trying to weed out underperformers, or is this part of a larger cost-cutting effort? Anyone else feel like their review is being scrutinized more than usual? Wondering if I should start dusting off the resume, just in case. It's always a bit nerve-wracking, but this year feels amplified.

Yeah, I'm feeling the same vibe. The emphasis on 'impact' this year is definitely a shift. It feels less about the day-to-day tasks and more about quantifiable results, which can be tricky depending on your role. I've also heard similar things about managers being prepped for tougher talks. It's creating a bit of anxiety, for sure. Hoping it's just about performance improvement, but you can't help but wonder if there's more to it given the current economic climate.

Definitely picking up on that heightened tension around reviews. The focus on 'efficiency' has me re-evaluating my own processes – trying to demonstrate clear value is the priority. While I haven't heard direct layoff rumors, the language around 'difficult conversations' does suggest some tough decisions might be on the horizon. It's a bit unnerving when the usual review process feels like it carries more weight than before. Let's hope it translates into positive changes and not just headcount reductions.
