Anyone else hit by the March 31st wave?

Just checking in to see who else got the email. My team in Sunnyvale was impacted on the 31st, and it felt like a total blindside. We were told for months that the business was steady, then boom—WARN notice hits and suddenly my access is revoked before I could even download my personal docs. I’ve been here for three years and honestly, the severance package is mediocre at best. Is anyone getting a decent extension on benefits or outplacement services? The severance agreement is pretty restrictive, so I’m hesitant to sign until I talk to someone, but the vibe here has been so weird lately. Everyone is just keeping their heads down and afraid to speak up. If you got cut, are you staying in the EDA space or looking to jump ship to a different industry entirely?

I am so sorry you are going through this. The sudden nature of these cuts is exactly why so many of us feel completely burned out by the corporate culture here lately. Being locked out before you can even save your personal files is incredibly disrespectful. I was in a different department, but we saw the same lack of transparency leading up to the announcement. Regarding the severance, it seems like they are pushing everyone to sign quickly to avoid any potential pushback, but you should definitely consult with a lawyer before agreeing to those restrictive terms. Don't rush into signing anything until you are sure there isn't room to negotiate.

Look, it sucks, but this is the reality of the industry right now. Synopsys has been looking to trim the fat for a while, and unfortunately, the 'steady business' narrative was just a way to keep productivity high until the very last second. I’ve survived a few of these cycles in the past, and my advice is to take the severance, get your outplacement package, and start networking immediately rather than dwelling on the unfairness of it all. It is a cold business move, but at the end of the day, it is just a job. Focus on your next move and don't look back at a company that treats people like disposable assets.
