Synopsys: Performance reviews feel unusually harsh lately.

Hey all, has anyone else noticed a definite uptick in the intensity of performance reviews recently? It feels like the bar has been moved significantly higher, and even 'meets expectations' is being framed with a lot more scrutiny than it used to be. I'm hearing more talk about 'individual impact' and 'driving results' in a way that feels a bit... pointed. It's making me wonder if there's an underlying agenda. Maybe it's just a general market trend, but it feels particularly pronounced here. Anyone else feeling this pressure or seeing similar trends in their teams? Just trying to gauge if I'm overthinking it or if others are picking up on the same vibes.

I've definitely noticed that too. It feels like there's a new emphasis on quantifiable outcomes and less on collaborative efforts, even though much of our work relies on teamwork. The language used during reviews seems designed to push people harder, and it's creating a lot of anxiety. Makes you wonder if they're trying to clear out some perceived underperformers or just drastically re-aligning expectations across the board. It's a stressful environment right now.

Yeah, the 'driving results' narrative is getting really loud. It's almost as if they're looking for individuals to single-handedly move the needle on major projects, which isn't always realistic given our interdependencies. I'm trying to focus on documenting my contributions clearly, but it's tough when the goalposts seem to be shifting mid-game. Hopefully, this is just a temporary phase to push through.
