Hey all, wanted to get a temperature check from the Life Sciences division at Thermo Fisher. Been here a few years and lately, it just feels... different. Heard some whispers about restructuring in certain departments, and while nothing concrete has been announced, the general mood seems a bit tense. Project scopes are tightening, and there's a lot of talk about efficiency. Anyone else picking up on this? Is it just my department, or is this a wider LSI thing? Trying to gauge if I'm overthinking it or if it's wise to start dusting off the resume. Open to any and all perspectives, even if it's just a gut feeling. Don't want to cause undue panic, but also want to be prepared if things are indeed heading in a certain direction. What are your thoughts?

I'm in a different part of LSI, but yeah, the vibe has definitely changed over the past year or so. Less focus on ambitious new projects and more on optimizing what we already have. It's understandable given the economic climate, but it does make things feel a bit more... constrained. Lots of talk about hitting targets and making sure every dollar is accounted for. It’s not necessarily bad, just different from how things used to feel. Seems like a company-wide push for profitability.

Definitely not just you. Even in my team, which isn't directly involved in what I'd call 'restructuring,' the pressure to deliver more with less is palpable. There's a constant undercurrent of 'how can we do this cheaper/faster.' It makes you wonder if the long-term investment in innovation has taken a backseat. It's creating a bit of anxiety, for sure, as people are trying to figure out where their roles fit into this new efficiency-driven model.
