I’m right there with you. It feels like every quarter we’re told to prioritize 'agility,' but that’s just corporate speak for cutting corners and running us into the ground. Watching veteran staff jump ship because of these endless efficiency projects is heartbreaking. We used to be a retail powerhouse, but now it feels like we’re just drowning in administrative busywork while the stores struggle. The lack of support from leadership is deafening, and it’s obvious they care more about the optics of productivity than the people actually keeping the lights on. It’s exhausting.
Honestly, it’s refreshing to hear someone else say it. Everyone in my department is terrified to speak up during meetings, so we just nod and pretend these new processes aren't completely redundant. The headcount freezes have turned what used to be manageable workloads into a total nightmare. I’ve started updating my resume because this culture of fear is unsustainable. It wasn't always like this, but if the strategy continues to be squeezing blood from a stone, I don't see how anyone stays long-term. Just hang in there, you definitely aren't the only one feeling the burnout.
