I’ve heard the same rumblings in my department. It’s definitely not just you. The lack of transparency regarding Q3 and Q4 planning is a massive red flag. When management starts going dark on roadmaps, it usually means the budgets are being reevaluated or they are preparing for some sort of restructuring. Keep your resume updated and stay low-key until the official announcement drops. It’s better to be prepared for the worst than caught off guard by a sudden email on a Friday afternoon.
Honestly, don't overthink it yet. Every company goes through these cycles of paranoia after a quarter closes, especially with the current market volatility. Sometimes those 'hushed meetings' are just internal policy adjustments or new compliance training rollouts that don't involve layoffs. Stressing yourself out over office gossip will just make your work life miserable. Just focus on your current deliverables and keep your head down. If cuts were actually imminent, you'd likely see more drastic signs than just a few nervous managers.
