Just got the news today that I’m part of the 87 affected in San Antonio. Honestly, I’ve been expecting it since the restructuring rumors started swirling back in Q2, but it still stings when it’s your badge that stops working. I’ve been with Trane for six years and I’m trying to figure out if the severance package they’re offering is standard or if I should push back. Has anyone else who was impacted by this specific WARN notice received their paperwork yet? I’m mostly concerned about the COBRA subsidy and whether they’re paying out accrued PTO in full. This whole process feels rushed and management has been absolutely silent on the 'why' beyond the usual buzzwords about operational efficiency. Trying to stay positive and start networking, but the job market in the HVAC sector feels a bit bloated right now. Any advice for someone navigating this exit? Also, what are we thinking regarding the remaining teams? Is there going to be a follow-up wave, or is this the extent of the site reduction?

I am so sorry to hear you were caught in this. I was part of a reduction back in 2022, and my experience was that the severance package was strictly non-negotiable despite what management claimed. They have legal teams that draft these agreements to be one-size-fits-all, so pushing back usually just delays your payout. Focus on getting that COBRA subsidy information clarified immediately, as they often hide the employer contribution details in the fine print. Don't sign anything until you have read the release waiver twice.
