I was part of a reduction back in 2022 and can tell you that the package is strictly calculated based on tenure, not generosity. Don’t expect them to go above and beyond the minimum legal requirements unless your contract specifically mandates it. They treat these layoffs like a simple accounting adjustment to hit those quarterly targets, and HR is usually very robotic about the whole process. If you were impacted, make sure to review the separation agreement carefully before signing, as they often try to bundle in non-compete clauses that might hurt your future job search.
It is frustrating to watch them run this same playbook every single quarter. They are obsessed with protecting those operating margins at all costs, and unfortunately, the employees are just numbers on a spreadsheet to the corporate office. I wouldn’t hold my breath for anything beyond the bare minimum severance. Most people I know who were let go in previous rounds had to fight just to get their earned PTO paid out correctly. Keep your head up and start networking immediately because they certainly aren't going to help you transition once you're out the door.
