The playbook is painfully predictable at this point. They acquire a stable company with a solid workforce, extract every possible cent to boost their private equity-style metrics, and then discard the people who actually built the product. It’s never about the long-term health of the business or the expertise of the staff. Anyone currently working under the TransDigm umbrella should see this as a warning sign. Get your networking done now, because no site is ever truly safe from the next round of 'efficiencies' when the stock price needs a nudge.
That Westbrook news is absolutely sickening, but unfortunately, it’s exactly what I’ve come to expect from them. They treat their subsidiaries like disposable assets rather than actual workplaces. Seeing 18 livelihoods vanished overnight for the sake of a quarterly report is the epitome of corporate greed. My sympathies go out to everyone in Maine dealing with this sudden shift. Take care of yourselves and lean on your local colleagues—the corporate office certainly isn't going to look out for you when the bottom line is all they value.
