Trimble: Performance review season and the silence is deafening

Alright, anonymous here. So, performance review time is here (or just wrapped up for some), and it feels different this year. Usually, there's at least some buzz about ratings, potential comp adjustments, or goals for the next cycle. But this year? Crickets. My manager was super vague, basically said 'maintain status quo' and 'we'll discuss compensation later'. Later when? And what does 'maintain status quo' even mean when we're all clearly doing more with less? I've seen zero communication about company performance or future outlook that would justify this hush-hush approach. It feels like they're trying to keep everyone in the dark. Anyone else getting the silent treatment during reviews? Wondering if this is a company-wide strategy or just my specific division feeling the squeeze.

Yeah, I'm feeling the same thing here. It's like they're trying to manage expectations down to zero. 'Maintain status quo' is such a cop-out when the reality on the ground is that we're expected to keep hitting targets without any clear path or reward. The lack of transparency around compensation is especially frustrating. Makes you wonder what the actual strategy is, if there even is one.

The silence is definitely unsettling. It feels like a deliberate move to avoid discussing anything substantial. 'Maintain status quo' feels like a way to sidestep conversations about promotions, raises, or even just acknowledging the extra effort everyone's putting in. Hoping this isn't the new normal, because it's pretty demotivating when you feel like your contributions aren't even being registered, let alone valued.
