The disconnect between leadership and the front lines

I’m honestly exhausted. The constant shifting of priorities combined with the vague threats of 'right-sizing' is killing any remaining drive I have. It’s a total mess. We are being asked to do more with less budget, fewer resources, and constant threats that our roles aren't 'core to the future strategy' of the bank. How are we supposed to build a career here when management treats us like line items on a spreadsheet rather than people? The constant 'synergy' talks are a massive red flag. I see people spending more time updating their LinkedIn profiles and polishing their resumes during work hours than actually doing the work because everyone is convinced it’s only a matter of time. If you’re not actively looking for an exit strategy, you’re doing yourself a disservice at this point. The trust is gone.

I feel your pain. It’s the same story in every department right now. They talk about 'strategic transformation,' but it just feels like they’re gutting the talent to keep the stock price propped up for the next quarter. The morale in my branch is at an all-time low, and honestly, the best advice I’ve received lately is to start polishing my resume. You can’t build a career on a foundation of anxiety and empty promises about synergy.

You are definitely not alone in feeling this way. It has become painfully obvious that the executive team is completely insulated from the daily realities we face. Every town hall feels like a script written by people who haven't worked in a retail branch or a support role in a decade. They view us as expenses to be minimized rather than the actual engine keeping the bank running. If you are burned out, please protect your own mental health first—this company isn’t going to look out for you.
