Truist - Anyone else seeing roles consolidated or redundant tasks?

Starting to notice a trend here that isn't being openly discussed. Been at Truist for a few years and lately, it feels like certain departments are getting leaner while others are absorbing responsibilities. Saw a colleague's role get phased out, and their duties were just quietly distributed. It's not a 'layoff' in the traditional sense with announcements and packages, but more of a slow bleed or reorganization that feels like it's heading in that direction. Is this happening elsewhere? Are people being asked to do more with less, or are roles just slowly disappearing without fanfare? It's creating a lot of extra work and stress for those of us left, trying to figure out if our own positions are secure or just the next to be 'optimized'.

I've definitely noticed something similar. It feels like the company is trying to streamline operations, but the communication around it is really lacking. Instead of clear announcements about restructuring, it's a lot of quiet shifts where people's work gets absorbed by others. It's creating a lot of uncertainty and extra pressure on those who are left. Makes you wonder about the long-term stability of certain teams.

Yeah, I'm seeing it too. It's a bit unnerving when you see roles disappear and the work just gets re-assigned without much fanfare. Feels like they're trying to avoid the optics of layoffs, but the effect is pretty much the same – fewer people doing more work. Definitely adds to the stress levels when you're not sure if your own position is secure or if your tasks will be the next to get redistributed.
