Is it just me or is there a weird vibe post-layoff news?

Been with Twilio for a few years now, and after all the news about potential layoffs ([2], [5]), even though nothing's been officially confirmed for my specific team, the atmosphere feels… off. People are a bit more quiet, meetings have a different tone. Lots of speculation, obviously. People are polishing their resumes ([3]) and networking like crazy. It’s making it hard to focus on day-to-day work. I've seen long-timers leave before ([4]), but this feels different. Just wondering if others are picking up on this shift or if I'm just overthinking things. Is management dropping any hints, or is it just radio silence?

I hear you. It's completely understandable that the uncertainty around layoffs would create a tense atmosphere. It's tough to stay focused when there's so much speculation and people are naturally looking out for themselves. The quietness and changed meeting tones are probably just outward signs of everyone processing the same anxiety. Hopefully, things become clearer soon so people can get back to feeling more settled.

Yeah, that vibe is definitely palpable. When there's talk of layoffs, even if it hasn't directly impacted everyone yet, the ripples are felt throughout the company. People start looking over their shoulders, and that 'wariness' creeps in. It's a shame because it can really derail productivity and morale when everyone's energy is focused on what might happen instead of what needs doing.
