Anyone else hearing whispers about Q3 headcounts?

Is it just me, or does it feel like things are getting weird lately? I’ve been at Tyson for a few years now, and the vibe has definitely shifted over the last couple of months. We’ve had a few rounds of 'operational efficiencies' mentioned in the town halls, and the constant focus on cost-cutting is starting to feel like a precursor to something bigger. My manager keeps dodging questions about budget allocation for the next quarter, and honestly, the silence is louder than anything else. I’ve noticed a few vacant roles in my department that haven't been backfilled for months, which usually signals a freeze or attrition play. I’m just trying to figure out if this is standard industry tightening or if I need to start polishing my resume. Has anyone else heard anything concrete about restructuring, or are we all just feeling the general sector pressure? Would love to know if anyone in HQ or the plants is seeing signs of a broader RIF or if I’m just overthinking the usual mid-year jitters.

The 'operational efficiency' talk is definitely corporate speak for upcoming layoffs. I’ve seen this script play out before at other big poultry processors. When the managers start dodging questions about budgets and headcounts, it usually means the writing is already on the wall. Start polishing your resume and saving your cash now because the communication from the top is only going to get vaguer until they drop the bomb. Don't wait for a formal announcement to see which way the wind is blowing.

Honestly, the atmosphere has been super tense lately. Everyone is nervous about these whisper campaigns, but honestly, focusing on the rumor mill just makes it harder to get through the day. I’m just trying to keep my head down and hit my metrics until I hear something official. It’s hard to ignore the shifts in management energy, but stressing about things I can’t control won’t pay the bills. If a layoff is coming, it’s coming regardless of how much we gossip in the breakroom.
