Tyson Foods: Why does it feel like a RIF is inevitable?

It’s honestly exhausting constantly looking over my shoulder every time leadership talks about 'right-sizing' and 'optimizing our footprint.' We’ve been hearing the same buzzwords for a while now, and every time they say it, someone ends up without a job. I know the margins in food production are tight right now, but the way they communicate (or don't) is incredibly draining. Everyone is on edge, the open-door policy is a joke, and it feels like leadership is just waiting for the next quarterly report to drop before they start swinging the axe again. If you’re at a plant or corporate, do you actually feel like your job is safe, or are we all just waiting for the invite to a 'mandatory team meeting' that ends with security escorting us out? I’ve started applying to other companies just to get ahead of whatever storm is brewing, but the market feels just as shaky everywhere else. I miss when this place felt like a secure company rather than a revolving door. Does anyone actually have a clear roadmap of where we are heading, or are we just hoping to survive until the end of the fiscal year?

I’ve been with this company for a long time and the culture has completely shifted. It used to be about the actual work, but now it’s just pure anxiety in the breakroom. Every time they mention 'synergies' or 'operational efficiency,' I just assume another team is getting gutted. You’re right about the communication—it’s nonexistent until the day of, and then they act like it’s a total surprise. It’s impossible to plan for your future when the corporate strategy seems to change every single quarter just to appease Wall Street.

Look, it’s not just you. The 'right-sizing' talk is just a thinly veiled threat at this point. When leadership stops talking about growth and starts obsessing over footprint optimization, you know exactly what comes next. It’s a miserable way to operate, and honestly, the lack of transparency is the worst part. Management acts like we don't know what’s coming, but the writing is on the wall. I’ve started looking elsewhere because waiting for the axe to fall every three months is no way to live.
