Anyone else caught in the June 3rd Uber layoffs? Gutted.

Just got the notification this morning, 6/3. Was part of the Mobility team, been here 4 years. Totally blindsided. We had a good quarter, or at least that's what we were told. My manager was vague, just said it was 'organizational restructuring' and that my role was 'no longer needed'. No real explanation. Severance is... okay, I guess? About 2 months pay plus benefits for 4 years. Feels a bit light but what can you do. Trying not to spiral but it's hard. Anyone else in a similar boat? Trying to figure out what to do next, feels like the rug has been pulled out from under me.

Man, that's rough. I was on the Eats side and we heard whispers of cuts coming, but didn't think it would be this widespread. Four years is a solid chunk of time, too. The 'organizational restructuring' excuse always feels so hollow when it's your job on the line. Hope you're able to lean on friends and family right now. Take some time to process before diving headfirst into the job hunt.

Hearing about these layoffs is really disappointing. Did anyone else notice a trend in which teams were hit the hardest? I'm on the platform team and we've been doing fine, but it sounds like Mobility took a big hit. Maybe it's a strategic pivot? I'd be curious to see if they explain the reasoning more clearly in the coming weeks. Also, 2 months pay for 4 years doesn't sound great, you might want to check if there's anything else in the severance package.
