I received the invite as well and I honestly haven’t felt this anxious in years. It’s the same script every single time: corporate speaks about 'strategic alignment' and 'streamlining operations' right before they gut entire departments. After three years here, I’ve learned that when management starts talking about 'exciting new chapters,' it usually means someone is about to lose their livelihood. I’ve already backed up my local files and personal contacts. If this is it, at least we aren't going through it alone. Best of luck to you, I really hope your access holds out through the afternoon.
Just got the notification and it's classic corporate theater. They always pull this 'mandatory business update' nonsense with zero notice to keep us off balance. I’ve been through two rounds of layoffs at previous companies, and the pattern is identical every time—vague emails, locked calendars, and a sudden 'urgent' meeting that feels more like a funeral for our careers. My Slack is already acting buggy, so I’m assuming the worst. Don't waste energy waiting for an explanation; just save your work and update your resume immediately. We're just numbers on a spreadsheet to them.
