Feeling the burnout before the next wave hits

I’m honestly exhausted. The constant cycle of 'reorganization' at Uber is starting to feel like a psychological experiment at this point. Every time a WARN notice drops for another 90-100 people, the rest of us just have to keep our heads down and act like it’s business as usual. How are you all coping? I’ve got friends in the Seattle office who are scrambling after the cuts there, and the morale here is at an all-time low. It’s hard to stay motivated to build features when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder wondering if you’re next on the spreadsheet. I’ve been here for four years, and I’m starting to think it’s time to jump ship before I get my own calendar invite for a 'mandatory sync.' Is anyone else looking for an exit strategy, or are you holding out for the next round of stock vests? I’m feeling completely hollowed out by the corporate speak.

I feel you. The revolving door of 'restructuring' at this company has become the standard operating procedure rather than an exception. It’s impossible to feel any sense of ownership over your work when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder wondering if you’re next on the list. I started tuning out the internal messaging and focusing entirely on getting my resume updated. Honestly, the best way to handle this place is to treat it like a temporary gig. Don't invest your mental energy here; just collect the paycheck, keep your head down, and keep your options open elsewhere.

Look, take a step back and stop internalizing the chaos. The leadership changes and the constant headcount trimming are systemic issues that have nothing to do with your performance or your contributions. You are just a line item on a spreadsheet to them, so stop trying to find meaning in the feature roadmap when the ground is shifting beneath your feet every few months. Take your PTO, disconnect entirely on the weekends, and stop identifying with your role here. Focus on your own mental health and bank account first—everyone else is doing the same thing.
