Am I imagining the increased tension around here?

Been with UP for a while now, and lately things just feel... off. There's a lot of talk, whispers, about 'restructuring' and 'optimization.' I get that companies need to stay competitive, but it feels like there's a constant undercurrent of anxiety. People are watching their backs, and there's a noticeable drop in morale. I've seen a few people get 'reassigned' or 'early retired' lately, and while management says it's just normal business, it feels different. Anyone else picking up on this vibe? Or am I just being paranoid because of all the industry chatter?

Yeah, I'm definitely feeling that too. It's been a weird few months. The 'optimization' buzzwords are everywhere, and you can just feel the unease. It's hard to focus on your work when you're constantly wondering what's next or who's going to be 'optimized' out. The whispers about people leaving are constant, and it's making everyone nervous. Management's message doesn't quite match the reality on the ground, and that's a recipe for low morale.

You're not alone. This 'restructuring' talk has put everyone on edge. It feels like a different company than it was even a year ago. The constant uncertainty about job security and the increasing workload for those who remain is taking a toll. People are starting to look for opportunities elsewhere because the atmosphere here has become so negative. It's a shame to see the camaraderie diminish like this.
