Anyone else feeling like staffing is getting thinner?

Lately, it feels like we're running on fumes. Fewer people on shifts, more relying on single crews to cover double the ground. We're seeing more delays, more stress trying to keep everything moving. I know there's always talk about efficiency and optimization, but this feels different. It's not just the usual end-of-year crunch or anything. Feels like the goalposts are shifting, and we're being asked to do more with less, consistently. Is this just my division, or is anyone else experiencing a noticeable thinning of the herd out there on the tracks?

I hear you. It's definitely not just your division. The pressure to maintain service levels with reduced manpower is palpable across the board. It feels like management's focus on 'lean operations' has reached a breaking point, and we're the ones bearing the brunt of it. The increased workload and longer hours are leading to burnout and are frankly unsustainable in the long run. Something needs to change before we see a significant impact on safety or service reliability.

Yeah, the staffing situation has been a hot topic for a while now. It's like a constant game of catch-up, trying to make do with fewer hands on deck. You see the impact in the yard, on the line, everywhere. It's tough when you're trying to deliver on expectations but are constantly short-staffed. Let's hope management recognizes the strain this is putting on the front lines and finds a more balanced approach to resource allocation.
